The rules, in plain words. These terms apply when you open an account, use our addresses, or ship with Buy2Africa.
1.1 Buy2Africa is a trading name of Buy 2 Africa Limited, a company registered in Uganda, with its office at Kampala, Uganda ("Buy2Africa", "we", "us").
1.2 These terms apply to everyone who opens an account, uses a Buy2Africa address, sends or asks us to send a parcel, or pays a bill ("you"). By doing any of these, you accept these terms, our Prohibited Items List, our Privacy Policy and our Cookie Notice.
1.3 You must be at least 18 years old and able to make a binding contract.
2.1 We provide a shipping service only. We give you an address at our partner warehouses in other countries (now the USA, Germany for the European Union, and the United Arab Emirates, and other countries we add). We receive your parcels there and ship them to Uganda, or to the other destination country you chose when you registered or when you approved a shipment.
2.2 We are not the seller of the goods. We do not give any warranty for the goods, their quality, their function or their fitness for a purpose. Claims about the goods (wrong item, defects, warranty, refunds) are between you and the seller.
2.3 We act as your agent for transport and customs clearance. Our warehouse partners, airlines, couriers and customs agents are independent companies. Our warehouse partners operate the warehouses.
2.4 Our services are available only for lawful, personal or business shipments that follow these terms.
3.1 Give us true, complete and current details: your full name as on your ID, your phone, your email and your destination country. The name on your Buy2Africa addresses is the name you give at registration.
3.2 Every parcel must show your Buy2Africa number and country code in address line 2 (for example "B2A 4000 UG"). If it does not, we try to identify the parcel from the tracking numbers you added to your account. A parcel we cannot identify within 14 days is treated as abandoned (section 10).
3.3 Your account and your addresses are for you only. Do not share or resell them. You are responsible for everything done with your login. Tell us at once if someone else uses your account.
3.4 We may ask for a copy of your ID before we release a parcel or settle a claim.
4.1 All prices on the website, in the price calculator, in the link estimator, in Amazon picks, in quotes and at checkout are estimates only.
4.2 The final price is set after the parcel arrives in the destination country and is processed, measured and weighed, and after we issue the final invoice. The final invoice is binding.
4.3 We bill the larger of the actual weight and the volumetric weight (length x width x height in cm divided by 6000), with a minimum of 1 kg per package, rounded up to the next 100 g above it, as shown on the Rates page. Fixed price items are billed at their fixed price. We add a processing fee for each package that arrives at our warehouse, as shown on the Rates page; the weight and the item do not change it. Our measurements are final.
4.4 Uganda: our all-in price includes freight, handling, Uganda duty, VAT, levies and clearing, based on the value you declare and the rules in force when we issue the final invoice. If customs changes the value, the tariff class or the exchange rate, or applies a penalty, you pay the difference before release.
4.5 Other destinations: you are the importer. You pay duty, taxes and local fees on arrival unless your invoice says otherwise.
4.6 Prices are in US dollars. Amounts in other currencies are shown at our rate of the day and can differ from the rate of your bank or mobile money provider.
5.1 We may change our prices, fees and rates. We publish the new prices on the website at least 7 days before they apply.
5.2 It is your responsibility to check the current prices before you send items to our warehouse and before you approve a shipment. The prices in force on the day we issue the final invoice apply, except where we agreed a fixed price with you in writing.
6.1 Pay each invoice by its due date. An advance payment (if offered at checkout) is a part payment of the estimate; it is not the final price. The rest is due on the final invoice.
6.2 Your advance payment and your invoices are linked to the tracking numbers of your parcels.
6.3 We release parcels only when all invoices for them, and any other amount you owe us, are paid.
6.4 If you reverse a payment without a valid reason (chargeback), we may suspend your account, hold your parcels (section 11) and charge the costs we incur.
7.1 Declare the true contents and the price you paid. Upload the store invoice for every parcel before you approve its shipment.
7.2 You are responsible for fines, delays, storage and costs caused by wrong or missing information, and you will pay us back for any such amount.
7.3 Customs, airlines and carriers may open and inspect any parcel.
8.1 You must not send items on our Prohibited Items List, or items banned by the law of the origin country, the transit countries, the airline or the destination country.
8.2 If such an item reaches us, we may refuse it, return it at your cost, hand it to the authorities or destroy it, without compensation. You pay all related costs.
You allow us and our warehouse partners to open, inspect, photograph, measure, weigh and repack any parcel, and to remove retail boxes, to check the contents and reduce the size.
10.1 Storage is limited. A parcel may stay at our warehouse in the origin country, or at our office or partner in the destination country, for up to 14 days from the day it arrives there.
10.2 When a parcel arrives, we notify you by email, WhatsApp or in your account. If, 14 days after arrival and after our notice, you have not asked us to ship the parcel (origin country) or have not collected it (destination country), the parcel is abandoned.
10.3 We may then sell, donate, recycle or destroy an abandoned parcel without further notice and without compensation. You lose all rights to it. We may keep any proceeds against any amount you owe us, and you still owe any remaining costs.
We may hold any goods we hold for you until you pay everything you owe us, also for earlier shipments. If an amount stays unpaid 30 days after our written notice, we may sell the goods and use the proceeds to pay what you owe, as far as the law allows.
12.1 You may ask us to stop a shipment only while the parcel is still at the origin warehouse and before it is packed into a shipment. We may charge for work already done.
12.2 Once a parcel has been sent (handed to the airline, the carrier or our partner for transport), the shipment cannot be cancelled, changed or returned, and the price is not refundable.
13.1 Transit times are estimates. Flights, customs checks, holidays and weather can delay a shipment. We are not liable for delays.
13.2 We release parcels only to you, or to a person you authorise in writing, with ID and the release code we send you. Risk passes to you when the parcel is handed over.
14.1 Without insurance, our liability for each parcel is limited as follows. (a) An item is missing and the parcel weighs the same when you collect it as when our origin warehouse received it (a difference of up to 5% counts as the same): we pay up to the lower of the value on the store invoice and USD 15 per parcel. (b) An item is missing and the parcel weighs less than when our origin warehouse received it (more than 5% less): we pay up to the cost of the missing item on the store invoice, if you give us the seller's proof of delivery to our warehouse. (c) Any other loss of or damage to a parcel: we pay up to the lower of the value on the store invoice and USD 15 per parcel.
14.2 We are not liable for: loss or damage before the parcel reaches our warehouse; seller mistakes or poor packing by the seller; items that do not work with no outside damage; fragile or perishable items; normal wear; seizure, delay or destruction by customs or any authority; delays; or any indirect or consequential loss (for example lost profit, lost business, lost data or loss of use).
14.3 Our total liability for all claims about one shipment is the sum of the limits in 14.1 for its parcels, or as in your insurance cover if you bought insurance.
14.4 Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit.
15.1 Insurance is optional. When you approve a shipment, insurance is ticked by default; untick it if you do not want it. You can also ask for insurance before the shipment leaves the origin warehouse. After the shipment leaves, you cannot add or remove insurance.
15.2 Insurance costs the rate shown at checkout, now 3%, of the value on the store invoice (or of the invoice value plus the shipping cost, if the checkout says so), with a minimum of USD 3 per shipment. The price is on your shipment bill.
15.3 We insure only brand new items that you bought directly from the seller and that the seller sent directly to our warehouse. You must upload the store invoice and keep the order and delivery confirmation. We check them before the shipment leaves. If the documents are missing or do not match, the insurance is cancelled and its price refunded, and section 14 applies.
15.4 We do not insure: used, refurbished or resold items; items from private sellers or other forwarders; items without a store invoice; cash, gift cards, documents, jewellery and precious metals; perishable goods; liquids; and items on the Prohibited Items List.
15.5 Cover starts when our warehouse records the parcel and ends when you collect it or we deliver it. It covers loss of the parcel and physical damage while the parcel is in our care.
15.6 Insurance does not cover the exclusions in section 14.2, seller errors, poor packing by the seller, and events in section 17.
15.7 We pay up to the value on the store invoice (plus the shipping you paid, if the insurance price included it), and only with the seller's proof of delivery to our warehouse. If you declared a lower value, we pay up to the declared value. Claims follow section 16. The insurance price is not refunded after the shipment leaves.
16.1 Check your parcel when you receive it. Report visible damage or missing items within 48 hours of pickup or delivery. Send a written claim within 7 days, with photos, the packaging and the invoice. Keep the damaged goods and packaging until we close the claim.
16.2 Late or incomplete claims are not accepted. We settle accepted claims by refund, credit or replacement, at our choice, within 30 days of a complete claim. Any court claim must start within 1 year of the delivery date (or the expected delivery date).
We are not responsible for failure or delay caused by events we cannot reasonably control, including airline or airport disruption, strikes, war, unrest, natural events, epidemics, government action, customs action, and power or internet failure.
You confirm that you, the goods and the recipient are not subject to sanctions of the UN, the USA, the EU, the UK or Uganda. We do not ship items that need an export licence. Shipments that need an export filing may carry a fee.
We may suspend or close an account, and hold parcels, for false information, fraud, unpaid invoices, prohibited items, abuse of our staff or breach of these terms. You may close your account when all invoices are paid and we hold no parcels for you.
20.1 You may use the website for your own shipments only. Do not copy, scrape, resell, reverse engineer or misuse the website, its content or its price data, or try to access accounts or systems that are not yours.
20.2 The website, the Buy2Africa name and logo and its content belong to us or our licensors.
20.3 The website and its tools (calculators, link estimator, price search) are given "as is". Prices and product data from stores and third parties can be wrong. We do not promise that the website is always available or free of errors.
20.4 Links to other websites (for example carrier tracking pages and online stores) are for your convenience. We do not control them and are not responsible for them.
You will pay us back for losses, fines, costs and reasonable legal fees we suffer because of your breach of these terms, your wrong declarations, your prohibited items or your breach of the law.
We use your personal data as described in our Privacy Policy. By using our service you understand that we share the data needed to ship and clear your parcels with our warehouse partners, airlines, carriers, customs agents and payment providers.
You agree that we may send notices and invoices by email, WhatsApp, SMS and in your account. These count as written notice.
We may update these terms. We publish the new version with its date on the website and tell account holders by email or in their account. The version in force on the day we issue the final invoice for a shipment applies to that shipment.
25.1 These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Uganda.
25.2 Please contact us first: most problems are solved through support. If not, both parties will try mediation in Kampala for 30 days. After that, the courts of Uganda have exclusive jurisdiction.
25.3 Your statutory consumer rights are not affected.
If a part of these terms is invalid, the rest stays in force. If we do not enforce a right at once, we do not give it up. You may not transfer your rights under these terms without our written consent. These terms, with the documents in section 1.2, are the whole agreement between you and us about our service.
